Women to the World
in
Kenya
Throughout Africa, Women to the World's goal is helping
struggling women and their families overcome the devastating effects and
emotional bondage of societal neglect, abuse and oppression by providing the
education that leads to dignified and sustainable employment and
self-sufficiency.
Combating Aids/HIV is one of Women to the World's primary missions.
Breaking News:
Our president, Doris Aldrich, is returning to Keyna, Somalia, Zambia and Burkina
Faso this fall, traveling with a team of volunteer specialists including
medical doctors and hygiene / lifestyle specialists, agricultural specialists,
and teachers to provide training for the African network of physicians that
Women to the World was instrumental in coordinating, and to provide training and
supplies for agricultural leaders in country (including water well drilling
equipment), and micro-business leadership training and supplies.
A key project for this trip is to teach the women how to make crafts for the
purpose of selling them to be able to make a living for themselves and their families.
Some of the crafts we will be teaching are card making, quilting, & cross-stitch patterns.
Quoting Doris, "The equipment and supplies will be carried on our
backs" to various recipients, and your help is needed with obtaining the
necessary materials, in particular for the crafts project supplies for the
micro-businesses that Women to the World has set up for women in Kenya running
small but sucessful greeting card businesses. The women involved produce
hand-made greeting cards, and other artful products for sale to support their
families.
