SUPPLY LIST: Items needed for KENYA
Industrial Arts classes for Micro-enterprising in Nairobi, Kenya:
Major crafts to be taught on this service trip:
Cards: rubber stamping, tea bag folding (origami), embroidery, pin punching
Quilting (simple): making yo-yo's (Suffolk puffs), folded star
Decorating empty plastic containers
Decorating plastic picnic plates
Materials needed:
Card weight paper
Envelopes for cards (boxes at OfficeMax) - large and small
Patterned napkins (two-ply) - floral, scenery (not topical or holiday)
Elmer's glue
Trimmers/cutters and some replacement blades
Fancy cut scissors (for edges)
Paper punches for cards with designs (decorative) floral, hearts, lace, corner cropping
Fabric for yo-yo's and floral designs (for cards as well as making other items, hot pads, runners, placemats, table covers,
etc.)
Rubber stamps (floral, Bible verses, animals, decorative)
Rubber stamping pads
Embroidery floss (DMC, including metallic thread, 6-strand)
Origami paper and tea bag folding paper
Patterned paper (non-topical scrapbooking paper is good)
Clear plastic plates (picnic) from Sam's (I think there are 3 sizes)
Sponge brushes (small, black with red handles - at Hobby Lobby, etc.)
Sewing needles
Quilting thread
Packets of vellum/transparent sheets
Books: Simple quilting (sewing machine or simple patterns)
Yo-Yo patterns
Rubber stamping (not with a lot of patterns where other accessories, decoration pieces would be needed from the States. These would give them some ideas to be creative on their own.)
Card embroidery
Folded star
Origami
Tea Bag folding
Paper punching
Financial donations can also be made for purchasing needed items not donated.
Donated items MUST be received by July 15th, 2008!
